Prof. Geraldine Cochran: The Diversity Umbrella: What is Underneath It?

Prof. Geraldine Cochran is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Professional Practice in the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a cognate in physics and her Ed.S. in science education with a specialization in teacher preparation from Florida International University. As a member of the AAPT, she has served on the Committee on Diversity, the Committee on Women in Physics, and currently serves on the Committee on International Physics Education. She is the 2019 selection for the Homer L. Dodge Citation for Distinguished Service to AAPT. She is currently the co-PI on several NSF-funded projects including Diversifying the US Physics Community through Applications of Best Practices and A National Network for Access and Inclusion in Physics Graduate Education and is an external advisor on the NSF-funded project Mutual Mentoring to Reduce Isolation in Physics.
